The CR508 rifle/pistol/archery ranges are in normal operating condition. Maintenance has been able to catch up on mowing and target board repairs, as well completing on-going projects. The new restrooms on the pistol side of the range have been placed into operation. This completes the upgrade project started last year when the septic system was upgraded. The new restrooms are ADA compliant. We still have a sidewalk to complete to allow for ADA access, so please use caution.
Did you know; Everyone born after September 2, 1971, must successfully complete a hunter education course to hunt in Texas.
You can go toto find when and where hunter education courses are offered. It is often difficult to find courses in our area.
The Safari Club International has teamed up with retailers like Carter Country to sponsor classes that provide free things that far exceed the $15.00 cost of the course. Students 14 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
We recommend accompanying adults, also take the course, even If already certified to hunt. Attached is a flyer advertising the two courses sponsored by Safari Club International.
You may also visit SCI Houston for more information on registering for a Hunter Education Course.
Our site is now fully integrated with Wild Apricot, you no longer need to keep up with two separate accounts as you did before, the username and password you use here will also be the same username and password you use to pay your yearly dues.
On January 1, 2016, the new open carry law will begin in Texas. Open carry is not compatible with range safety and club rules. In order to continue to ensure safety on our ranges, there will be no open carry on Greenwood Gun Club property.
You are still permitted to conceal carry on GGC property if you have a CHL, but do not mix your shooting experience and concealed carry. If you draw from concealment it is breaking club rules. Act as you would in a public place. Displaying your firearm in a non-emergency situation would be considered "brandishing".
